Page 34. Par. 6.2.

If the critical number is 6 or more, a Unit can only fail the test with a 6 and then you lose one to your VBU. Is the same case with with a critical number under 6? It seems not as shown in the example in that same page (The Unit can have a permanent loss of two with a 6)

Why this difference? I think that having a high critical number should be more penalised?

Thank you.

the standard rule is that losses=die roll-critical number.

If the critical number is high this means that you are stronger (high VBU or few hits taken), so you have more chances to pass the test.

At the same time if the critical number is 6 or more it is impossible to roll more on the die. This would lead some Unit to be almost invulnerable.

So the rules says that in this case you can get only 1 loss and only if you roll a 6.
So whatever your critical number, with a 6 you always fail.

On the contrary with a roll of 1 you always pass the test (as your critical number cannot be less than 1).

Ok, but then I can't understand the example on page 34. The CP Unit never can get 2 permanents losses. If it rolls a 5 it gets 1, but if it rolls a 6, it gets just 1 loss again, as you say!!

Have I found an unknown errata? Very Happy

no, I mean you get only one loss if your Critical Number is 6 or more.

But if your critical number is for example 4, then if you roll a 6 you get 2 losses.

Example. Your CP Unit (VBU=7) is in melee with another CP Unit and receives 5 hits!! well your critical number is 2 (7 minus 5). If you roll during the cohesion test a 6, well you get 4 losses!! Crying or Very sad

Same example but your opponent gave you only 1 hit. Well, as you are VBU=7, minus 1 hit, your Critical Number is 6.

Are you safe as you cannot roll more than 6 on a d6? No, because the author (very cruel indeed Twisted Evil ) has decided that there is always a chance you loose a cohesion test.
And this happens when you roll a 6. In this case how calculate how many losses? Simply by default the loss is 1.
But in all other cases, when there is a difference between the roll and the critical number, the losses are those calculated by the difference.
