well, you get an advantage as less easier to be contacted on the flank, btw you get some more chances that the flank charge become a rear charge.
But honestly unless you are playing in a competition with "competitive" gamers" I cannot see problems. In case of competition you can bring with you a 8x3cm base (an extension) and in case of flank attack use this to see where the charge would exacly contact your base. You don't need a slotta base, just use this extension when required and then remove from the battlefield.
Similar problems occour when you have to retreat or when you are interpenetrated. The "extension" can solve all this problems.
If you decide to use same bases 8x6cm 3 Numidian figs are enough while 7-8 Punic cavalry are perfect. The difference in number is enough to differentiate the 2 troops. But my suggestion is to follow your taste.
