SHOOTING OF MOUNTED CROSSBOWMEN (CLARIFICATION)
Mounted crossbowmen, as well as western mounted archers, shoot only if stationary. Such troops have an arc of fire of 45° not 360° even if classed CL.

Welcome on board Amenofi Very Happy

yes, the reason for beeing "stationary" is that they dismount to shoot (don't move), so they shoot like other infantry with a 45° arc of fire despite the fact they are classed CL.

Yes, as you know, they were no more than the late medieval version of the Dragoons and were widely used in Italy where smaller battlefields with closer line of sight forced main armies to organize some of their shooting units as mounted ones to give them the capability to cover more approach than before and to use enemy mistakes/failures with an harrassing fire before they were able to reorganize transforming a simple punch on th enose in a retreat or this one in a rout.

Could not submit a new topic. So, I will simply use this reply to submit a number of questions:
1. Does any attacker have to make edge contact to make an attack? Ref. rule 7.2 and the new 7.0.
2. Define "continuation of the frontline" in rule 7.2
3. Does the player with initiative activate 1 unit and complete it's action and then the other player activates a unit?
4. Does the general have a "command radius" or is there any penalty for a unit to be out of contact with the general?
5. Does pike and mounted take a 2 d6 penalty rule 3.2 or a -2 rule 7.5 for fighting in broken or difficult ground?
6. Is there any difficulties in the rules for moving Elephants?

Hello david, welcome on board. If you have problems in posting new topic please wrtite me at dadiepiombo (at) libero (dot) it so I can see what can I do to solve the problem.

Here the answers to your questions

1. Does any attacker have to make edge contact to make an attack? Ref. rule 7.2 and the new 7.0.

The attacking Unit has to contact the defending one with the full front or just part of it or even just with a frontal corner.
See example below, all 3 are examples of correct attacks (the Red attacking the Blue).

2. Define "continuation of the frontline" in rule 7.2

See the black line below. It is an imaginary line that it the extension on the front

3. Does the player with initiative activate 1 unit and complete it's action and then the other player activates a unit?

No the Player with iniztiative activate ALL his Units, one by one. Then the other Player do the same. At the end they re roll for initiative so could be that the second Player now moves again.

4. Does the general have a "command radius" or is there any penalty for a unit to be out of contact with the general?

Not in Basic Impetus (in Impetus yes).

5. Does pike and mounted take a 2 d6 penalty rule 3.2 or a -2 rule 7.5 for fighting in broken or difficult ground?

Yes these troops loose 2 duice when in melee in broken or difficult ground

6. Is there any difficulties in the rules for moving Elephants?

No in Basic Impetus. In Impetus troops will have one more value that is “Discipline” and this will affect.
