In Basic Impetus, can you move the general from one unit to another during the game? Or is he (ain't I sexist?) attached to the same unit throughout the game? Can he be left unattached to any unit?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

In BI, all commanders are attached to Units at all times, so each commander is normally mounted on the same base as the Unit to which s/he is attached. If you happen to have a commander based separately for another rule set, s/he still behaves as if mounted on the same base as the rest of the Unit, and cannot ever be unattached.

In Impetus, on the other hand, commanders may be declared as either attached or unattached prior to the beginning of the battle. Unattached commander figures are used for visual appeal only - all command measurements are taken from the army's back table edge. For my own personal use, I have developed some simple 'house' rules to give unattached commanders more of a presence on the tabletop, but that is a different subject for a different thread.

Cheers,
Scott
