Hello, I just joined and I am picking up Impetus in three weeks at Historicon. I have read basic Impetus, but not played any games. My group have been playing FOG. I have medieval Scots, English and French as well as Wars of the Roses armies. I read on TMP that I could request army lists here, so if I am in the right place here goes:
Early 13th Century covering battles like Muret and Bouvines 1213 and 1214 (French, German, English, Italian)

Scottish Wars of Independence 1297 to say 1360

Englans's Baron Wars 1264-1265

Thanks

you are in the right place Very Happy

I will start with Feudal French and Feudal English (the latter to play also the Baron wars).
It think that these 2 armies will be rady by Historicon, others will follow.

for Marian Roman you can use the list on the book. Ok its is called Caesar's amry to give more flavour but worls also for Marius and civil wars.

Any preferences among the other 3 armies?

I'll go for Palmyrans as this will be a 28mm Impetus based army.
I already have Germans and Spanish. Both these armies are on 90mm bases which I use with 15mm ranges etc
Germans will just be hundereds of warband types,. I could prbably sort that one out.
Of course the list in the book is Marian - I didn't bother to go and check and only remembered the Polybian list!

 List options?

Hi,

Are there plans to expand the beta lists with variant options, as in BI? On a simlar issue, is the later Macedonian list supposed to serve for all of the successors, or will a succusser list be released separately?

The reason I ask is because I'm interested in starting BI, but want something with plenty of different options that I can expand easily to full Impetus rules. I'm looking primarily at either a successor list (Graeco-Indians or possibly Pyrrhus), Carthaginians, or Late Romans (Romano-British in particular). While all of these are available for BI, only the Romans are available for the full game.

there will be about the same armies than BI, but of course it requires time. As for variants, many in BI are to allow a balance army and at the same time to make options. In Impetus you can choose the troops, so many variants are included in your choices. But still ther are armies with many variants (you will see for example in the Great Italian Wars list of the first supplement.

The beta is only for Macedonian list (though in conjunction with Alexander list, it provides an useful guide to other Ellenistic armies), but specific successors lists will be released.

Betas also tend to be more simplificated than the lists that will be released on the booklets. The aim of betas is to provide the gamer the possibility to make his favorite armies without waiting for the supplements. The aim of the lists in the supplements is to provide more detailed or specific armies.

For example I will release a generic list (as a beta) for the Wars of the Roses, but in the supplement there will be more lists.

In July-August I plan to release the following lists (not in this order)

Graco Indian
Palmyra
Sassanid Persians
Medieval Irish
Anglo Irish
Medieval Scots (Wallace and Bruce)
Communal Italian
Ottoman Turks
Wars of the Roses (generic list suitable for Lancs and York)
